Here are a few of my favourite makeup items that I always use when doing my makeup looks..
So basically my favourite primer of all time is this beauty right here, if you love the dewy and glowy look like me you will absolutely LOVE this. This primer is made of crushed up pearls which really gives your skin that hydrating glow, it’s also Paraben and Sulphate FREE. It’s a liquid made primer and you definitely get a great product pay off. I usually get 4-6 months out of one bottle, and I use it every time I put on makeup. As soon as I apply this to my face I’m instantly glowing, which can also be great if you don’t feel like putting on makeup but want to add a little something to brighten up your face. I love the texture of this product because its smooth on the skin, except I also feel the stickiness which gives me the reassurance my makeup will stick and stay in place throughout the day! If you haven’t yet I definitely recommend trying this product out, it sells for $36USD on the Becca Website, and $46CAD/$38USD on sephora!
This is my everyday foundation, I use shade Y375 and I can’t go without it! I originally tried this foundation in a deluxe sample and it happened to be the perfect shade for my skin which got me hooked. It’s medium coverage and its great for all skin types! It has a really lightweight texture so it doesn’t feel too heavy on the face. I usually only wear foundation when i’m going out somewhere such as dinner, dates, bars etc. so I tend to get a lot of use out of it, but using it every day you will probably only get a 2 month use out of one bottle depending how much you pump per application. There’s also a stick option if you prefer that. This foundation is on the more expensive side but if you’re willing to spend, it’s definitely worth the money. This foundation ranges from $52CAD/$43US on Sephora.
This is another great liquid foundation that I love to wear. It’s better for those days when I feel like I need a little more coverage and I love the full/matte coverage it gives me. Every time I wear this foundation I get compliments on my skin, it really does wonders for the face even on those days you think nothing can fix those beautiful breakouts. When I’m my normal shade which is still pretty tan I wear shade “05 Sand Beige” and when I’m feeling frisky and tan I wear the “06 Sand Beige”. This is a really high quality product for such a great price. I linked where I usually buy it online in the title so you can check that out if you’re interested. This product usually ranges in price from $11-$22, depending if you’re buying it in the US or Canada. I know you can find it at the Superstore, on Amazon, or the Lady Moss Beauty website.
The first blush I ever bought after really getting into makeup was the NARS blush in the shade “Luster”. I saw this mentioned in a Youtube video, I believe it was Amanda Ensing. Honestly, that’s how I shopped for almost all my makeup when I first got started, I’d see products mentioned in videos and make a list so I could buy one each pay cheque. This was a really great option for me, I think every girl kind of strays away from blush because we’ve all watched our moms, grandmas and aunts use and abuse the bright pink stuff on their cheeks. Don’t be scared of blush! I feel like it brings my entire look together and gives some warmth and rosiness to my face. This blush is peach toned which works great with my olive/medium skin tone and I love it. No matter what look I’m doing, this blush works and is so smooth when I apply it. There is 21 beautiful shades for every skin tone, but you can definitely buy blush from any drug store which will give you the same result but this one happens to be my favourite! Sephora sells it for $38CAD/$30US.
Now onto every girls favourite makeup item ever, concealer. My must-have concealers are the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer and the NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer. I use both in the shade “CUSTARD”, and its medium to full build-able coverage. I use the Radiant Creamy Concealer to highlight and the Soft Matte Concealer to correct and cover any imperfections. I blend both with a damp beauty blender, and it sets perfect with any kind of face powder. I love these for highlighting the face because it doesn’t wash me out, but also gives that great light under-eye look! They’re both $37CAD/$30US.
The brows, brows are so in and everyone wants cute brows. My holy grail brow product is the Brow Wiz in the shade “Medium Brown”. It’s perfect for me because my brows are already pretty full so I don’t need much filling in but I use it to shape them. If your brows aren’t as full I would recommend trying the Dip Brow or the Brow Definer which are a little thicker. I love that the spooly brush is on the other end to easily blend the product into my natural hairs. $27CAD/$21US on Sephora!
What girl doesn’t want plumped lips? This is the perfect lip gloss, literally it’s perfect. I’ve always been searching for a lip gloss that isn’t too sticky, and I really love the wet looking gloss. This has it all! It’s a plumping lip gloss, so it gives a cold/tingling feel when you apply it and I use the shade “White Russian” which is the perfect light pink/clear colour. You can honestly wear this with any makeup look, and its even great for days you don’t wear any. I could go on for days so imma just stop there but seriously.. go buy it. $24CAD/$20US on Sephora!
I can’t even begin to explain how much this product changed up my highlight game, I mean its ridiculous. So if you’re not familiar with this, get familiar. It’s a water mist that refreshes your skin and finishes makeup. Some people use it before putting on their makeup to prep the skin, during the day to freshen up their look and also after they finish as a setting spray. I like to spray my brushes with it when I want more pigment, so I usually spray it on a brush before using a sparkly/metallic shadow and I always spray it on the brush before I highlight my face (The secret to becoming a disco ball). It’s crazy how quick this changes the pigment of literally anything you use it with. I also spray my entire face with it after I finish my makeup to freshen everything up before I apply my setting spray. You can buy it for $28CAD/US on their website
Listen up because this is a trick of the trade right here. The BEST setting spray out there, is the urban decay setting spray. When I purchased my first setting spray ever it was the UD “All Nighter” and I bought that one because I assumed it would last all night”er”.. it didn’t. I found that during the day my makeup would come off in certain areas of my face and it just wasn’t doing what I needed it to do. I read some reviews and came to find the “chill” version is actually way more long lasting. This version is supposed to be more cooling and hydrating, so basically it keeps your makeup from smudging or settling into lines and actually chills the surface of your makeup to keep it looking fresh. I’m sure theres a million other great options for setting spray but this is personally my favourite and I’m nervous to try new ones. The only thing I do find is that I’ve had a few bottles that smell super weird but it doesn’t last long and you won’t smell it after a few seconds. You can actually apply this all throughout the day to refresh your makeup, and I find it makes my makeup application look fresh almost all day. You can buy it on Sephora for $39CAD/$31US
I’m about to get real emotional talking about this product because honestly nothing compares and I know that I’ve hit a crazy level of addicted when I’m this excited about a highlighter but like I just can’t. This palette is like my dream, anyone who loves highlighters and I mean like crazy hurts your eyes highlighters needs this. I wasn’t really that excited about this when I first heard about it but like being the makeup addict that I am I had to buy it for my collection, so I ordered it when it first got released. At first glance, they look super sparkly and I’m not a fan of shimmery highlighter I like more metallic and pigment in the ones I wear but like when I swatched them they weren’t sparkly at all and they are SO pigmented. So, basically its a palette with six, metallic powder highlighters and they range from super white silver to pink, to peach, to shades of gold. What I love about them is even the coloured ones are wearable which I usually can’t pull off because I hardly ever wear colours on my eyes other than neutrals/cool shades. It’s limited edition so I’m not sure its being discontinuing it but they’ve restocked it a few times! You can buy it at Sephora for $52CAD/$40US
Those are a few of my makeup must-haves! I realize a lot of these are high end products and on the expensive side but these are just my personal favourites.
Hope you enjoyed! XX
